The Compost Station for the Beverly Compost Initiative will be open on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. The station is open from 2:30-4:30 pm at Veterans Park. Anyone is welcome to deposit kitchen scraps in the compost station bins. The scraps are then hauled to a local farm and will be used to replenish the nutrients in our soil.

See you in November!

Thank you everyone who supported The Beverly Farmers' Market this year! It was a great season! The vendors, the patrons, the musicians, and the volunteers were all wonderful. The last market of the regular season was last week. I already miss the gathering of the "farmers' market kids" each Monday.

Keep in mind that the Salem Farmers' Market will continue through the Fall and Winter. The Salem market takes place on Thursdays from 3-7 pm at Derby Square, Front Street Salem. You can get your fresh produce and then some. They also have music and kids' activities. Here is a link for more information: Salem Farmers' Market.

Here is some really exciting news for you:

Thanksgiving Market on November 21st

There is going to be a pre-Thanksgiving Day market. The one day market will be on November 21st. at the Cove Community Center. The time is still to be determined. You will receive more information on ordering local, organic turkeys and a vendor list in the near future!

Beverly Compost Initiative Continues
Bring your scraps down to Veterans Park on Tuesday 10/11/11, between 4-6 pm

The Beverly Compost Initiative will continue to offer all Beverly Citizens a place to deposit compostable kitchen scraps. This service is made available to you by The Beverly Farmers' Market, Full Circle Earth, The Food Project, and The Sustainability Forum of Beverly. This is your opportunity to change the way our City deals with solid waste. This is a grass roots effort to make Beverly a hip and environmentally conscience city. The goal is to have city supported, curbside composting.

In the future the drop off day for compost waste will be on Wednesdays between 2:30-4:30 pm. If you are interested in a home pick up service for composting please do send an email to beverlyfarmersmarket@gmail.com.

You can like the Beverly Compost Initiative on Facebook: FB Beverly Compost Initiative. You can be part of the change by telling your friends and neighbors about this free service!

Please send an email to beverlyfarmersmarket@gmail.com, if you are interested in volunteering or further being involved with the farmers' market or the compost initiative. Thank you very much.

Last Market of the season: October 3, 2011

The last Beverly Farmers' Market of the season is on Monday, October 3, 2011. Rain or Shine! It has been a lovely season. Thank you all very much for supporting local farms, artists, and artisans. Your health and our community are better due to your support!

The Harvest is still at a peak right now. Remember to stock up on winter squashes, root vegetables, and cabbage. If you have the energy to do some of your own food preservation, now is the best time to buy up the last of the tomatoes and summer squashes, veggies, and fruits.

Jonathan Rand will be performing at the market tomorrow, with special guests from the Rand Family!

Take this last opportunity to support a local artist at the market. Little Owl Arts and Sarah Clark Designs bring beautiful pieces of wearable art each week. Think gift giving! It is just around the corner.

Save the Date for a Thanksgiving Market on Monday, November 21, 2011. This will be a one day in door market where you will be able to shop locally for your holiday meal.

See you at the market!

3:30-6:45 pm at Veterans Park, Rantoul St. and Railroad Ave.
