Fruit is like gold!

Next Market: Monday, August 15, 2011

I have come to treasure fresh, local fruit. There is nothing like the taste of a juicy, ripe, local, nectarine! Nothing! We are lucky. We are lucky to have farmers, people who are passionate enough about the earth and food to keep growing for us. Did you know that The Food Project has a farm right here in Beverly?

By shopping at the Beverly Farmers' Market, or at any local farmers' market, you are reducing your own carbon footprint; you are creating community and giving yourself the best medicine on earth-real, whole, local, food. Thank you!

At the market this week you will find fresh veggies in abundance, including broccoli, corn, cauliflower, lettuce, beets, radishes, carrots, herbs, and squashes. You will also find treasures of peaches, nectarines, berries, tomatoes, and flowers.

The market also has coffee beans from the Atomic cafe, local grass fed beef and cheese, cookies, bread, hummus and pesto from the Organic Garden Cafe, granola, local art and jewelry, handmade soap, and books. Tomorrow we will also have a guest vendor to talk about Solar Energy Systems. The vendors at the Beverly Farmers' Market are all passionate about what they do. Please, feel free to ask the vendors questions about their products.

We will have musical entertainment, weather permitting, by Jeff Buckridge! He is the guitarist for The Boston Horns, among other local groups. He will perform on the Ukelele tomorrow.

Remember you can bring your kitchen scraps to the market to be composted by Full Circle Earth.

As always, come by the Market Tent to find out more about the market or to use your SNAP benefits.

See you at the market!
